Shrinking Height and Aging
« on: January 06, 2016, 05:12:49 pm »
Well, I went for my annual physical today and found out I have shrunk another 1/2 inch.  I was originally 5'2"...not tall by any standard, but I have slowly become 5'1/2".  "Barely", as the medical assistant said. Gee, I can't wait to be 4'10".  LOL! (Well, I'm not sure I really feel like LOL!!!)  Soon I'll be in the Little Person society (to be politically correct).

I was always 5'5".  At my last doctor visit I am 5'4".  I guess it's true what they say about getting older and shrinking.

Yeah, tell me about it!  I used to be 5'7", now somewhere around 5'5".  It doesn't help the fact that I've got Osteoporosis due to those wonderful drugs some of us need to take on a daily basis.  So the Doc put me on Fosamax.  Took that for a couple of months, then read about the horrors of THAT particular drug and dropped that crap like a hot cake!

Thats strange. While everyone is shrinking, Im slowly growing. Lol. I was always 5'2  1/2 and just recently I attended an annual check up with my Dr. and he told me Im 5'4. (??) ...Lol,...  :confused1:  I personally took my height at home after seeing my Dr. to see if he was correct. And guess what?....He is. Lol.     :)

I have been 5'10 since 10th grade.

My last general check-up, I was 5'9. Gasp!

My son was taking me to dinner one night, and I saw our reflection in a window. I asked him if he was getting taller, but he was 41! He looked at me funny, and then we both laughed....I am still shrinking.

I don't know how to do "short", I only think tall. Will I one day be unable to climb up to the table without help?? Jus' kiddin' but good grief....where do the inches go to? (Rhetorical).

So, I guess we are just "down-sizing".

Downsizing!  I like that!  If you don't mind, I'm going to use it.  Problem is that when you only start at 5'2'', you don't have much to work with!!!  Me and the second graders will soon be the same height.

Well I'm with the majority of answers to this, definitely shrinking.  It doesn't surprise me.  Watched my mom along with other older relatives gradually shrink.

This is weird. I've been 5'10" since I graduated from high school (many decades ago) and I was hoping to shrink so I could wear high heels.  Then, at my last physical, I measured 5'10 1/2 inches.
So I must be growing again.

I let myself get fat, it is/was painful to lose the weight.

Well it happens to us all - just a part of aging so I just go with the flow!

Yeah, my ex-husband was 3inches taller than me in college.

Now, he is several inches shorter. He is bent over a bit, but he has shrunk too.

It's a strange thing to have to deal with, since there are so many other frustrations with getting old.

Fun, fun......
