Computer Brands

I may be buying a new laptop before long and I am wondering what computer brand you have had a lot of luck with?  Is there one you swear buy?  What have been some positives and/or negatives about brands you have owned?

I like Toshiba. I have been a college student, worked at home, and used my laptop for both. Mine has lasted me a good 4 years now. They are good for basic work and school. If you are looking for a laptop for gaming then I would recommend another type.

I have a gateway at home and would not get one again-- I have a lenovo at work and love it -- great speed and haven't had any trouble with it --

I'm an Apple girl. I've had my MacBok Pro for 6 years and no problems. I love it! I invested in it after dealing with computers/laptops for years that always seemed to have a problem or break.

I absolutely love Hewlett-Packard (HP). I have two HP laptops. One of them is about 5 years old (the one that I am currently using) while the other is about 2 years old. Both are working perfectly fine with no issues. I would however refrain from buying any Dell products. Some of my friends own Dell laptops, and they complain that the laptops work slow most of the time (not because of a poor Internet connection, mind you).

I'm going to have to disagree with everyone and say Lenovo... :P I love their desktops even more than laptops.

There is no "right" answer here because various people have had both good and bad luck with just about every brand out there. I started out with Gateway computers years ago, but have been a Dell man ever since dating my wife.  She is the computer expert in the family and she has always gone with Dell, so I just  followed.

I have had good and bad luck with them myself, but mostly good.

I am biased towards Hewlett-Packard (HP) only because all of the laptops I ever owned were manufactured by them. Based on the dinosaur laptops that I have at my job and what I operated in my college years (Dell), I would steer clear away from that company. Dell computers are absolute garbage, in my opinion.

And there you go!  I recently replaced my laptop and my wife found two comparable models online - one was a Dell and one was an HP.  I almost went with the HP, but past history and loyalty swayed my mind over to the Dell. It's funny how we stick to certain brands when it comes to that sort of thing.

I have always bought Dell Computers.  Dells are excellent. I have never had any problems.  I hope that helps.

I've always bought Dell. I have one from the '90s that the power supply died about 2 years ago (I used one for work and one for personal use). I bought a new one in 2005 and it's still running, but I already had to get a new power supply for it. I think we had an electrical surge because both power supplies went out at the same time. Both were very reliable, but the "new" one is outdated and not supported by Microsoft and now Chrome.

I did buy a laptop but I don't know how to transfer my programs to it. I was told I couldn't do it, that I needed to use the disks but a lot of my programs are  electronic downloads and you can only do it once or twice, so the laptop sits here doing nothing. :(
