My Mom keeps hers up into January because it is nice to look at lit up in her front window.  This woman at work put decorations up above her desk like on the 17th and took them down on the 23rd of December :o what is the point ::)

I try to keep it up through 3 Kings day. One year I had it up until late in Jan and my husband through all the ornaments in containers without care. So many broke.  :bad:

I usually leave mind up a long time.  We have a fresh cut tree so I leave it till it starts to dry out.  One year I left it up til the first of February and it actually bloomed with the pink starts of new pine cones.  Usually though, the week after new years but then, we don't put it up until a few days before Christmas.  I do take down the outside decorations on New Years cause, hey, the neighbors would talk wouldn't they?

Just took it down today. I am so glad I didn't get to put up any decorations for this Christmas holiday. I was keeping it simple this year. With the amount of my electrical bill accumulated for my heater only, I figured it is best to enjoy the Holidays while I still have electricity instead of a cold house this time of year. Also, Jesus was born in a manger and humble circumstances. So I figured my family would be the same. But my children was sad because we didn't put up any decorations except for the tree.

I take the tree down before the New Year.  Cannot come into the new year with last year Christmas stuff up.

I don't take the tree down, the tree has to make that decision for him or herself. Hell I've had Douglas furrs that made it till next spring. It seems a bit crass to just meander into a nearby brush, excavate the roots of a fitting and healthy tree, take it back to mine and dress it all up, then come the end of December and all the festivities have all but wound up, I throw that tree away? Ahh no no, not around mine. Our goal is to get the tree to make it until the next 4th of July. It's difficult but can be done with determination and persistence. Assuming the tree doesn't punk out, he goes off in style strapped to as many of the strongest fireworks legally accessible to normal people- and by that point he's so God damn dry and combustible he lights up like he did back in December- and the circle of life is complete.

I used to take it down shortly after New Years but I no longer put one up because my dogs took all of the ornaments off the bottom and the little table trees don't do much for me.

I will be taking my tree down as soon as the New Years Eve celebrations are over.  It's quite a big chore, and one I don't look forward to. It's great putting the tree up, watching Christmas movies, eating mince pies and creme, taking it down after all the celebrations are over is not quite the same.

It usually was tradition after New Years day, supposedly bad luck to do it before that, but I don't have time to wait that long anymore, all decorations have to come down much sooner. Within the next couple days everything will be down and I decorate a lot.
