In a way we overspent on food but not presents.  My sons and I haven't done anything to speak of for Christmas since my husband died three years ago - this is the first year we have had the heart to even celebrate so it was worth it.

I'll probably end up overspending; I buy too many things during holiday sales.
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

We did probably overspend some but not as much as some other years.  A couple of people on our lists are elderly and it always seems wrong to skimp on these since they enjoy what we send - flowers and omaha steak food - the rest of the family gets by on homemade food items so that sort of offsets the extravagance of the other gifts.  My husband and I limit ourselves to $20 each just to avoid Christmas gift guilt.

No we did not.  We are on such a tight budget we would really be messed up if we overspent.  I buy gifts year round just so we are not hit all at once and put into a couple of big plastic containers. (Whenever I see things on really good sales!!)
