No.  Mail carriers make good money.  They do not have a tipping job.  They are paid well to deliver the mail.  I don't get the paper delivered to my home.  I get paid to do my job by the hour.  I do not expect people to "tip" me extra for doing the job I am already paid to do.  Besides the fact that most of these positions you would be fired for accepting tips if you boss knew about it.

I have heard of tipping the mail carrier and newspaper delivery person. We use to tip the newspaper guy when he was walking door to door to deliver them, now they hire people with cars and sometimes we don't even get our paper for some reason.

I have never tipped the mail carrier with $ but my 3 year old has gave them candy canes if we were able to get out to the mailbox in time or left them a candy cane with a note in the mailbox.

The only thing I give my mail carrier is cold bottle water on a hot day. They are paid well enough and don't need a tip. I believe in tipping anyone who goes above what is asked of them though.

I give my mail carrier a box of goodies, but my understanding is we are not suppose tip government employees.  But my mail carrier really likes the home made goodies as she does not have a lot of time to make them. Or once in awhile I will give her a set of bath lotion .  But it is always in good taste.

I usually tip my mail carrier and I will send a check to my newspaper delivery person although I'm so far out in the boondocks that they will now only deliver me a newspaper on Sundays so I probably won't send much.

NO. I try not to put myself in situations that require such amounts.

Now I have done that.  And left a card with the flag up with her name on it.

That doesn't even make any sense.

I know several delivery folks, including the mail carrier, who work their tails off all year long to keep my important deliveries safe and delivered on time.
I try to give a card with a small token of my appreciation every year.
