Yes, I generally give a gift card for a local restaurant to our mail lady and our garbage man.  We don't take the newspaper.
Have a wonderful day!

I never see either the mailman or the newspaper delivery person.  My mailbox and paper box are both at the road.

I give my mail carrier homemade cookies.   She is a sweet older lady (we have boxes at the road).  She has pulled into my driveway to deliver packages and I always try to run outside so she won't have to get out and walk.  She has difficulty walking.  Very sweet lady.    We no longer have the paper delivered.  I do have a fabulous UPS driver that I may try and get him some cookies too.

Mail carriers are payed very well, so I feel no reason to tip.

As a paperboy growing up, it was normal to get a few dollars or gifts around Christmas. I only made 10-15? cents a paper, so it was nice. I can't remember the last time I have seen a kid delivering the papers, usually it's just adults anymore. Don't know if that has more to do with the kids, or the economy.

I have never heard of tipping the mail carrier. Mine should tip me for not complaining. We will be working in the yard, just a couple hundred feet from the mailbox when she drops off the mail, (we have a oversized box) instead of leaving a package, she waves and leaves a slip in the box saying we have to go to the post office to pick up our package which would have fit in our box.

Starting pay for a mail carrier is $20.82/hr, with benefits. I've you tip them, fine, but no one should feel obligated. It's unnecessary.

If I knew my mail carrier personally, I would probably tip him but I don't see him often and mail gets mixed up some times and he leaves my mail box open at times where mail will get wet if it rains. But my mail carrier always changes, so that would mean I would have to tip 5 mail carriers. They should be tipping me for not calling the post master to get them in trouble for messing up the route! lol

I tip low-wage earners like restaurant workers, beauticians and others. Hard work-little pay!

I do. I am a good tipper if I receive good service - at least 20% if not more. If the service is bad then that is reflected in the tip.

Same here. I dont tip the mailman either because he is awful about getting our mail in OUR box. He also pulls in the drive and lays on the horn rather than getting out and setting a package on the porch. Annoying.

Every year as a combined effort from my household we put together an envelope for our mailman, around $80 to $100 or more for providing a wonderful service. "We've never missed a package thanks to him taking the liberty of ringing the bell even if he's not sticking around for a reply.
