YouTube Copyright Problems

Have you ever wound up losing your YouTube channel after too many copyright infringements? I just faced my second strike and am worried I might not survive a third one. The best I can do for now is contact any companies involved in any videos I plan to upload.

I've had the same problem. You have to be very careful with Youtube with music you might add, etc.

OR you could not upload copyright videos.  I see them all the time and they are clearly a violation.  I see where movies and tv shows are uploaded all the time and then removed because it's a violation of TOS.  Some things you should not even get a second chance at.

I called out countrygirl12 recently when I thought she was being a bit harsh in her response to another poster in another topic (we each had our own opinions on that topic); but in reading this one and the responses I was amazed at all the earlier replies and nobody stating the obvious solution.


countrygirl12, I am absolutely in your corner on this and you put it very well!  The OP has absolutely nothing to worry about if he/she just follows the rules.  Instead of trying to find a way around them and worrying if that will get you terminated, just follow the rules and eliminate any cause for worry.  'Nuff said.

No, I haven't had any problems, but I only have a few videos up. It is frustrating, since it seems some channels thrive on "fair use" of images and the like but only a few people get strikes on them.

lol.  Thanks.  I tend to be blunt and as I said before I don't coddle people.  I just say it like it is.  This seems like such a no brainer.  I have seen several comments on these threads about different ptc sites or online sites and someone is crying because they got kicked out for breaking the rules.  What can I do?  They are so mean to me.  No, you know upfront what the rules are and what the consequences are if you break them.  It's like having 2 accounts on this site.  It will get both terminated.  How do you avoid being terminated for having 2 accounts?  Ahhh that's easy.  Have only ONE account.  : D

Youtube automatically detects copyrighted music... You probably need permission for the material or use it under Fair use

I've used music where the musician/band has given permission for it to be used "as long as it is NOT used for commercial purposes & the musician/band is credited in the video" both of which I did....and have had no problems.  You can find music like that on-line, but read the small print before using.

I agree that I don't have much sympathy for people that use clearly copyrighted material. However there are some times where the poster may not realize that the media they're using is copyrighted (esp. music when people use it as background sound for a video they created). I also disagree with YouTube's decisions as well, esp when the copyrighted material is used in a parody or some other derivative art form (which I think should be covered under the "Fair Use" policy).

Yes, I have and it was because of too many copyright infringements. Now, my YouTube channel is suspended.
