I don't know any thing about Arizona. I hope you like it there.

I say go for it! I've never been to Arizona (even though that's where my school's main headquarters is) but I perceive it to be very hot and humid.  If you can withstand that go for it! I plan to relocate to another state myself in a year and a half.

Also, don't be afraid to leave behind old belongings and start anew.  I just decided I'm not renting my usual large moving truck.  Instead, I'm going to rent a cargo trailer big enough for my washer & dryers, beds, book shelves, and my treadmill and start all over again with everything else. I need some new furniture anyway and with what I'll save on the moving truck and movers that's a living room set right there.

That's good for you, and houses are cheap to buy but the problem is the weather is bad in terms of heat.

I hear it's hot, but it's definitely cheaper. Best of luck!

Raised in Florida, ready to move....deciding to move to Arizona.....anyone have any thoughts on this?

You certainly know what "hot" means living in Florida, although Florida is a LOT more humid than Arizona could ever be.  We have a saying here in Arizona - "It's a DRY heat," LOL, and yes, it is and very, very hot in the summer time.  Temps in summer ALWAYS go well over 100 degrees, but look at the bright side - you go from an air conditioned home to an air conditioned car to an air conditioned store.  If you decide to go up north to Sedona or Flagstaff, you can expect your summers to be a bit cooler than in Phoenix or it's surrounding areas.  Up north, they get snow, so if you like to ski or like the change of weather, you might prefer it there.  Phoenix has generally mild winters.  We get a lot of "Snow birds" here in the winter time from places up north and Canada.  For the most part, winters here have temperatures in the 50's or higher.  I've celebrated many a Thanksgiving and Christmas with the doors open because it was actually in the 70's or 80's, LOL.  On occasion, we do get a wicked winter.  A couple of years back the temps dropped to the 20's as a low.  People were scrambling to cover their bushes and trees from the frost.  Of course, we have our "Monsoon" season, which brings a lot of rain in certain areas and I don't know if you're familiar with Haboobs (dust storms or sandstorms), but some of those could be pretty wicked, too.  Here's an awesome video that a gentleman took from Gilbert, AZ as one of our more awesome Haboobs hit us:

Arizona really doesn't lack for anything.  There's restaurants, and shopping, and plenty of entertainment.  :)

Thank you, yes I been checking out everything online about AZ this year and watching youtube video's I think it's pretty cool. I'm think about Phoenix, I like the heat so it wouldn't bother me, plus like you said you leave your home to the car anyways. I'm not into cool so the snowy parts of AZ to live would be out, but traveling to visit the snowy part will be nice.

No, I don't have friends or family in the area, which it wouldn't brother me, I'm a loner anyways, I stay to myself with my fiance. We are very adventurous and would like to be in AZ for a year then travel to another state and live for a year and soooo on.....A wouldn't need a job I have my own business which allows me to do anywhere.

Thanks for your input i has really helped!!

Yea, I downsized years ago, my fiance and I just have our personal belongs (clothes, etc) no moving truck needed.....I'm at a point in my life that it's just me and soon to be husband so we want to travel to different states and live there for one year, the hot states (no snow for us) and if we like the state we stay longer.

Very hot in the summer.  still warm in the winter.  Unbelievable dust storms.  But the living in different areas for up to a year at a time is great.

Personally I think that the change would be nice.  I lived in Wisconsin for thirty years and was exposed to artic cold and blistering, humidity filled heat before moving to Ormond Beach, Florida for a year and the humidity was somewhat stifling-especially in August. I now live in Colorado where I am very happy: 323 days of sunshine, minimal humidity, an occasional snow storm but I can wear shorts year round. My parents live in Prescott Valley, Arizona and love it.  Prescott sits at a higher altitude similar to Denver.  The weather is generally dry and sunny although they have gotten flurries before. I enjoy visiting them and the weather has always been nice. There are lots of places to go hiking and some very beautiful scenery.

You must make sure you've done enough research about Arizona before moving there for sure.

Very beautiful state if you can stand that kind of heat.

I live in Arizona but I'm originally from California. At first I did not like the idea of moving here but now I like it better than California. It depends what you are looking for but I think coming over here is not a bad idea.
