Calling people stupid

People sound stupid to me when I can't make them understand what I'm telling them that they need to know.

 Do not call people any names. Yes, some people are ignorant, stupid, silly...other. What are going to do about it? Ignore them!

My pet peeve is calling someone "retarded". This is very offensive to me due to the fact I have a special needs child. No one is stupid, maybe a bit naive...

I like your fathers way of thinking.  I made a comment the other day... not saying someone was stupid.. but that people need to educate themselves before making choices.  I opened my big mouth after a gal announced she was going gluten free.  I asked if this was because of diet restrictions or by choice.  She said by choice because another gal lost 35 lbs. by not eating potato's and cauliflower. I laughed and said that sounds more like a low sugar low gi diet rather no gluten.  She said they were full of gluten and I responded with people need to educate themselves.  I think I offended her and she's hardly speaking to me now.

I don't think anyone should call anyone names, or put them down. So many people talk bad about others. No one is living anyone else life. There are a lot of sayings about this. Doing such can be hurtful and bring problems into someone else life. I think it's important to not talk about about other people, and not call anyone names.

Calling someone stupid is a power move. You either hurt/anger that person, or you hurt/anger/depress the person....that is all power.  Said often enough it breaks a person.

It is a cruel word.

Every time I hear someone say someone is stupid, or their idea is stupid, I think of my dad.

One of his pet peeves was using the word stupid.

He'd say, "Were you born knowing what you know?  Nobody is stupid.  Ignorant, yes. Stupid, no."

Stupid is, as stupid does....

I often use them interchangeably, but there are times where I have encountered truly STUPID people. Like, when they have been warned against doing something detrimental and/or are presented with FACTS, but they still refuse to take heed and disregard information...Then again, stupid people are often ignorant. Meaning they ignore warnings, advice and prefer to keep their head in the sand. We've ALL made poor decisions at one time in our life or were unknowledgeable, but grew, matured and learned. Then there are people who perpetually make dumb decision and have an inability to learn and keep making poor decisions, over and over and are too STUPID to be ashamed.

  calling someone stupid is not going to make them any better. It is better to help them understand why they are wrong and how to fix it.

I disagree - some people really are "stupid" but that's a choice they make I'm sure.

i think if we are honest, people do and say stupid things. their meaning may not be thus, but it does mean that what they do/say could be. it is mean to call someone stupid. i also think it is unproductive. it offers nothing positive to a situation. however i've certainly said stupid things and done stupid things, so has everyone else. we're human, it happens.
