Its very handy to have all that other stuff on there, its like having a computer in the palm of your hand with the capability of calling people, plus it fits in your pocket.

Other than using it as a phone I don't do a whole lot except pictures.  Occasionally I use the maps and the weather.  I do frequently use the alarm.  I text too but I really don't like to.

The more the cell phone can do the more value we put into it.

I like the basic phones . My children laugh at me and tell me to catch up.  I asked them why.  They needed to count how much money they have spent on broken , lost , damaged phone just in the last 5 years.  One would have had a nice down payment on a car.  LOL

How about texting without needing to key it in? Mine uses voice input and converts it to text.

I use my phone more for everything but a phone.  Surfing the net,  doing my surveys,  posting pictures, even online shopping is made easy.  I hate to depend on it so much but there so much I gain from using it like I do. Guess i can't complain.

I love my iPhone and wouldn't want to go back to the older phones.  My husband was the last person I would have expected to get an iPhone but he had to have one for taking credit cards at work.  Now, he's pretty addicted to it for stock reports, weather, etc.  He doesn't play games on his like I do on mine but him just being able to use one is a miracle lol!

I would never let someone swipe my credit card on their cell phone.

I think that is funny.  Maybe I am better at taking care of stuff than other people.  Idk.  I have never broke or damaged my phone.  Or lost one.

Whether people like it or not the world is changing.  I know for a fact a large company that wants to move more to the online shopping that in store shopping.  Cannot say who it is but one day it will happen. lol.  Anyway, Their goal is for people to shop online and pick up order in the store.  Have employees fill the orders and have it ready when the customer gets there.  I don't see it happening but I never would have thought the online shopping would be where it is either.  More and more people would rather order online and have it shipped to a local store or to their home.

It is not so much as you "depending on your phone" as it is the world is changing.  I like being able to pay my bills online.  I can manage and view my accounts online.  So much easier than sending thru the mail (more time, may get lost) or having to call and talk to someone on the phone.  The phones are made so you can do more of what you use to have to have a computer for.

And one last thought, to the people who complain because they see people engrossed in their phones....I don't know about any one else but there are times in the break room I may seen engrossed in my phone but really I am not doing anything but trying to avoid conversation. lol

I agree with everyone that they are very useful and I use mine for a range of tasks.  However, people who use them while they drive and during social affairs and conversations are among my biggest pet peeves.  In fact, driving and using one at the same time should be ticketed and fined by a fairly large amount of money.  I have gotten so that when I am with someone constantly using their cell phone during our interaction that I finally told one person, "Maybe you can get back with me when you have time and want to enjoy our interaction".  Nuf said!

I finally got an I phone a couple of months ago and am amazed at how much I use it.
I store allmy contact info and appointments in it. I even keep I running grocery lists. no more paper lists.
I do like having the option of texiting reather then calling somone so I do it on onmy tim and not bother them.
I amnot addicted to it. I don't panic if I miss a call or text

Everybody has the right to their opinion and that's yours and I know many people would think like you, but some of us think it a good thing. You don't have to carry your laptop with you just you phone and you can do what you need without the baggage.
