I haven't really heard what his conditions are but I do think he would be a strong Speaker!

One word = RINO!  We don't need a quasi-Conservative, we need a REAL Conservative.

I do not really  know enough about him . But then we did not know much about who proceeded him either and I felt he was worthless.  So I guess Paul Ryan can't be any worse.

Hypocrite.  You cannot keep voting to not let the working class have something then demand that you get those benefits.

I'm still waiting to hear a rational argument why one of his "conditions" is considered hypocritical... For those that are confused about this and / or his conditions, one of Ryan's concerns before accepting the speakership was that it might eat into his time with his family. Liberals will point this out and contrast that with votes against family leave as being hypocritical. However this point that Ryan was making was what he wanted prior to accepting that position, whereas family leave bills / laws are meant to change the benefits that the worker had previously accepted. If Ryan had accepted the position as house speaker and then wanted the rules changed for the speaker such that the speaker got additional benefits, then I could see how that is the opposite to not wanting other workers to gain increased benefits after they have accepted their job, and hence why he'd be a hypocrite. However in actuality, Ryan is using his own discretion whether the position as speaker has all of the benefits that he desires before accepting the position, whereas laws that change employer benefits to their employees dictate the benefits that the employer has to agree to provide thereby removing the decision making process out of the hands of the employer and potential employees.

Family leave bills will only discourage more companies from having US factories. There is already the FMLA benefit for necessary medical leave, and people just abuse it. Forcing employers to grant more time off, will just mean that they have less productive employees, so they would rather just get the work done overseas.
