Cane Sugar in Coca-Cola Life
« on: September 14, 2015, 11:20:08 pm »
Is the cane sugar in Coca-Cola Life organic? I've heard that sugar is never safe unless it's organic. On the nutrition label for Coca-Cola Life, it says it has cane sugar, but the cane sugar is not called organic. When something has sugar, the sugar isn't called "cane sugar" if it's refined, so what exactly is the meaning of calling sugar "cane sugar" instead of just sugar if it's inorganic?

Not sure about the organic thing but if I drink soft drinks....

I reach for the one with sugar because my system doesn't like high fructose corn syrup.

After reading about different blood types I've learned...

Different strokes for different folks.

I don't necessarily believe that soft drinks are healthy for anyone; however, different people tolerant small amounts of certain chemicals.

Have a great day!

Unless it's labeled organic, it's probably not.

I love soda but I know its not good for you - Pepsi has some soda's that only have cane sugar but I don't know that it is organic but to me its better than HFCS.  Now I looked at the Cocoa Cola life but it also has stevia or something else in it and I don't want anything but sugar.  Sierra Mist has had sugar in it forever but it also has stevia and it has an aftertaste that I detect and definitely don't like.

I could be wrong but I do not think you can put  blanket label of "organic" on an item. As the previous poster mentioned , I too believe it must be labeled as organic. There is a list of criteria to be labeled as such.

If you ask a chemist, they'll tell you that any sugar is organic, along with any other molecule that has carbon chains in it. However I'm sure you are talking about whether this sugar satisfies the organically grown criteria...

I worry about the soft drinks my hubby consumes. I do not drink it my self, find it is all too sweet or leaves an after taste in your mouth. I have not drank a  soft drink in ever so long not since I was 15 and am now 72.  I do not even like sweet tea or lemonade. Well most anything sweet. I will drink some brands of juice as long as they are not very sweet and not very often.

The label says cane sugar to let you know what the sugar is made from.
If the label only says "sugar," it could be made from sugar beets, rather than cane.

Sugar is sugar, and actively consuming them is bad for your health. Organic/raw sugar is slightly better than refine sugar (since it doesn't have to go through processing), but nothing noticeable.. People sometimes look at artificial sweetners that have low sugar but high in fructose. Either way it is still bad

If your looking for healthy sugar. The only one I see is maybe honey
