I'm sorry to sound so ignorant, but my two sons, 9 and 11, are just starting their second season of football and I, a British National who is more familiar with the rules of Rugby, have been struggling to learn the rules. It is only just this past week that I have realized that the "plays" of football are not random charging for the ball, but in effect, choreographed strategies where every player knows their expected plan of attack. My youngest son was telling me just yesterday, that his job on the line this past weekend was to block his opponent and  push him to one side, to allow a hole in the line so that the ball runner could get through! I am sorry, and embarrassed, to admit that until now, I did not know this. I am really excited to find out what else I do not know!

But what a wonderful situation where your sons have the opportunity to teach YOU how the game is played and what strategies exist!  Best of luck to you.  There is much to learn, but it's a fun game to watch and you will have feelings of accomplishment as you begin to recognize what just happened on the last play, or anticipate what might be the plan of action on the  next play.  Good luck!

Always fun to see the "experts" season predictions go down the tubes.  Go Panthers!
