christmas already??

So it is the middle of August and many stores have already started loading the shelves with Christmas stuff. What are your thoughts?

yeeeah, um. its august.
i liked when the weather would turn cold,
and gradually christmas would start to pop up
&appear and make its way in gently...
the mood was set, instead of shoved down
your throat to make a buck.

its just wearing out its welcome (in the over-priced,
consumer/commercial world, that is). i'm afraid
that by the time it gets here, i'll be totally over the
warm, cozy, cinnamon-smelling mood  :sad1:

I think its good for those who shop early. I work in a department store and say the same thing every year.."Christmas already?"

I absolutely love the holiday season.

However, seeing Christmas decorations in August takes away the vision of Christmas in
winter. August through September is not the right time for Christmas displays.
October-maybe late October isn't bad.

I think its great, a good way to start early Christmas shopping.  You find some pretty good sales during the transition period.

it's good for one thing but bad for the other...what happens if you find out that there is a better gift than the previous purchased one, do you buy it or stick with it?

it's funny.  i think it's too soon to be selling christmas "stuff" BUT not too soon to be buying christmas presents.  i do that all year long so i'm not stuck with a huge money outlay at one time.

Yes I have seen it and it drives me crazy I really hate it.  I feel like they are trying to rush my life away.  Last money they had Halloween stuff out.   :BangHead:

I've already started Christmas shopping and I'm half way done.  I only am this year though because I'm due to have our 2nd baby on Thanksgiving, and I want to be sure I have everything for those I usually would buy for.  Selling Christmas decorations and stuff is a bit crazy for August though.

I have to admit-I bought my first Christmas gift already!!  :)  I have to stagger my spending a bit for Christmas so it won't hurt as much this year.  It's been a rough year for us all!  I figure that if I get a couple things here and there, by the time Christmas rolls around, I won't have as much that I have to come up with all at once.

It doesnt really bother me at all. I like to pick up toys and other odds and ends when they go on sale all year long. That way im not in a hurry at Christmas time. I can actually set back and enjoy the company and the season. But seeing christmas stuff out in August just makes me realize,, ITS ALMOST HERE!!
