Kim Davis Jailed
« on: September 05, 2015, 03:57:47 pm »
I didn't see a topic about this yet, but I find it appalling. This woman has been thrown in jail like a common criminal for simply refusing to compromise her spiritual beliefs!

I understand that Gay Marriage is the law of the land now, but putting this woman in jail certainly isn't the solution to this problem. Let her be impeached if they feel she's not doing her job correctly and remove her from office. But it's certainly a step too far to have her jailed over this!

If you agree, you can sign the petition for her release:

this has been such a crazy thing here in Kentucky --i am proud she has stood up for her beliefs --we need more people like that --there is a saying you have got to stand for something or you will fall for anything --she is standing up for God !!

I understand her wanting to go with  her belief's ,,,, and refusing to hand out marriage cert. to people of the same sex.  I understand she was an elected official and her name had to be on these Cert. of Marriage.  I do not agree putting her in Jail was the answer,,,   she should have been taken out of her job and someone else put into that place to handle these Marriage License's till another person could be elected.

I am glad that there is someone doing that right now, even if they are not qualified to handle this job.

I admire anyone who stands up for what they believe. even if I disagree with them.  I do, however, believe she should voluntarily step down from her job rather than refusing to do it.   If she continues to refuse her job each time this situation arises will she be put in jail each time?   I know any job I've ever had if I refused to do any part of it I would have been fired.   Don't like your job, then it's time to leave and go do something that doesn't conflict with your beliefs.  Breaking the law of the land is not an option.

Not just gay marriage but anything that goes against christian principles.  We no longer have rights even regarding our own business.  The couple facing $135k fine for refusing to bake a "gay" wedding cake.  This world has gone crazy.

The world is how it is because of sin, I'm a Christian I don't support same sex marriages.

But when the new law was created that allowed same sex marriages, Kim Davis should have quit her job then not wait until she was faced with the issue. By her staying at the job knowing what they stood by (same sex marriage) just shows that she wanted her pay check.

She should go to jail for not preforming her job.......

First the gay community were fighting for their rights.  Now the non gay community have to fight for their rights!
Unfortunately this is only the beginning.  It is only going down hill from here.  But I've read the book and know how
the story ends!  I'm making sure my children and their children are equipped with handling these things as well.
I'm praying for Kim.

She needs to quit her job.  The others across the country who refused to compromise their beliefs quit their jobs.  She is wrong to demand to still be paid $80,000 a year and refuse to do the job.   And she didn't just refuse to issue the gay marriage license but ALL marriage license.    I do not agree with same sex marriage.

At the same time I have one question - Where were all the outraged Christians before this happened?  Sitting on their hands saying "oh that can never happen".  It's time for the Christians to wake up!

lol.  Yeah, she isn't going to do that.  She is not going to give up the $80,000 a year.  Maybe she needs to read the whole Bible.  There are also verses in there about loving money.  I read last night where they were trying to raise $100,000 for her by Monday because she is having such a hard time.

You make $80,000 a year plus your husband's salary and you are having a hard time then you have a spending problem.

The thing is she was voted into her job. That's why there shouldn't be need for her to resign. If the legislature there has any problems with how she's approaching her job, they need to impeach her. Trouble is, I think the Governor doesn't want them getting involved in the issue, so he's letting the judge send her to jail.

She wasn't jailed for her religious beliefs.  She was jailed for not following the law.  If it goes against her beliefs so badly, she should be looking for another job that wouldn't put her in the position to have to make the choice.  I know it's not always that simple...but just hate people saying she was jailed because she was a Christian...

I agree that putting her behind bars is a little bit...over the top.

I firmly believe that she should have lost her job and that position should be given to someone who is willing to cooperate and comply with the job requirements.

Who really cares about her religious belief's?  I certainly don't.

Have a great day!

I do believe that it is over the top to jail someone for not following their job, but not only did she refuse to hand out marriage licenses, but she condemned the court multiple times when they ordered her to either do so or quit her job!

I believe that our country should allow people to stand up for their beliefs, and in her case that involves allowing her to quit her job or ask to be transferred into a similar job that would not involve overseeing marriage licenses if she refused to do so for couples who wished to be legally married. However, the courts can't maintain their power unless they follow through on punishments to those who repeatedly disobey them, and since the judge had told her she would face charges if she refused and she continued to prevent couples from legally marrying...  *shrugs*
