Are you close friends with your supervisor at work?

My supervisor is a great guy.  Yes, he is a close friend.  I am thankful that I work in a great place with wonderful people.

I was always REALLY good friends with my coworkers. I work at GameStop so everyone was super laid-back and really chill, we'd get together on our time off and play video games, maybe have a couple beers. Our regional/district managers even played online with us. It was tons of fun!

I do my job and complete the tasks given to me but i do not get along with my supervisor at all.  She tries to be friends with me but i don't trust her at all.  So i keep my distance

How is your friendship and work retationship coming along? Are you able
to follow his or her instructions when you are given a job to do or do you get
an attitude because he or his is telling you what to do?

If you want to keep your job you are going to do what your supervisor tells you to do.  There is no sense in getting an attitude because they are telling you what to do.  I get along with the managers where I work.  But I am not "close" to any of them.  The suck ups that are close or tight with the managers get talked about.

I have known my boss for roughly 30 years ... I wouldn't say we are close friends but just friends .. I have no problem following what he wants me to do .. He does own the business

I am not personal friends with my current supervisor but was with someone before (I also had supervisors who were once my assistants) and we never really had any problem with the job tasks, although we didn't discuss work outside of work and by mutual agreement they never discussed other employees with me.  It didn't for us, but I have seen where it put the manager in a compromising situation if reprimands or promotions were involved.

My manager at work drives me crazy the majority of the time. We used to be friends but she has become very disrespectful and rude.  I met my husband at work years ago and he was my manager back then. Miss those days at times.

I do my job very, very well, but there is a "clique" at work that is much like high school, I'm too busy working hard and they all stand around and talk and I often get overlooked for promotions and whatnot because they all kiss butt and I don't. So, to answer the question, I'm not close with my supervisors.

I would not call my boss my friend.  However, we do have a solid relationship of trusty and respect. She has been my boss for 18 years.
