It takes less than 3 seconds to answer, say hello and hang up, so what's the big deal?

The only thing that annoys me with political calls are the "push polls" where they give you only one choice that everyone will pick in order to make their "poll" say whatever they want... Eg Do you agree with Sen. Whatshisname in providing more money to the school lunch program, or do you favor starving children instead?

I once had a "push poll" call and tried to point out the logical fallacies in their poll, and the telemarketer started acting like a lawyer confronting a hostile witness... "Either answer A or B, there is no other option that I can enter into the system." I just had to say that I wasn't going to play along and pad their results by taking a "push poll", and just hung up.

lol.  Yeah that is how most surveys are.  Like the ones we take on here for cash.  If you answer questions in a way that makes the poll go a way they do not wish for it to go you get kicked out.

In your case of the call you received, I am a member of a survey company that does from time to time call me.  If someone called and was asking survey questions I would interrogate them until I found out who they were and hang up if not interested.  Or answer "starving children" in order to tick them off and then hang up. lol.  Tell them kids in China might eat once every 3 days.  Kids here are too spoiled.  And most need to loose a few pounds.  That should upset them enough to make answering the phone worth the time. 

I actually just received a wrong number call.  He said is this "****"  and I said "I believe you got the wrong number"  and he said "sorry" and I said "not a problem".  We both hung up and my days is fine.  I am not trying to find out WHO he is or WHY he called MY phone number.

Idk.  I guess I have just realized there are more important things to concern myself with than something silly like someone calling my phone ONE time.

Ive never had a phone long enough to get a fundraiser call for cops.  I would put my number in the do not call list too.

The ones that call for donations for cops do not have to abide by that list.  It's been a really long time since they have called me.  I only remember twice in my life.  The first time was with the highway patrol and the only reason I listened as long as I did is because my uncle had just been involved in a really bad accident a few hours prior and he identified himself as officer **** with the highway patrol and I thought it had to do with that.

The other time after I told him I did not have the money to donate he kept trying to talk me into it and telling me how much the police do to protect me.   He ended up making me mad and I can't remember if I smarted off before I hung up or not.  But I did hang up on him.

The thing about the solicitors is there are people who are barely surviving.  You don't know a person's situation.  But because they have a nice car or a nice home doesn't mean they aren't fighting with all they have to keep it.  Also just because they don't tell everyone doesn't mean they have enough to eat.  But people want to judge because they don't donate to a cause the caller feels is worthy.

Any FYI a lot of those callers are paid out of the donation each caller gives.  I guess that's why they get smart and huffy when people don't donate.  It actually IS money not going in THEIR pockets.

Like others have stated, I don't answer if I don't know the number.   I then look it up and then block the number on my phone.   There was a time if the same number called back I would answer and blow a whistle into the phone.   That was fun but then I started feeling bad thinking the person is just trying to make a living.   Now I just block.

I hate them, I don't want to talk to them.  If I do not know who is on the phone, often I will not answer. I am on the DO NOT call list.
