I like the magazines but can't turn done the discounts. They can pay for your membership.

I have been a member for a year but have not used any of the discounts.  I need it on Car rental, but they don't do National.

I am a long time member of AARP. They seem to have a lot of good benefits but none have worked for me except for the yearly convention. AARP used to have a yearly convention and I went every year loving it and having a wonderful time. However, Miami Beach was the last one  :(.  They are going to do something different locally and regionally but no information yet.

I know other persons who have used the auto insurance and have gotten good savings. Others have used travel benefits and medications.  Savings depend on the individual: your age, what you have, where you shop and eat.  You will get a very good magazine monthly and another publication every three months or so.

I think that AARP membership is worth the yearly dues to join.

I have been a member since I turned 50 (4 years ago).  I joined them to get their health insurance but after joining I found out that I can't buy their insurance until I am 65 due to KY law.  My mother & father has AARP health insurance and it has been great for them.  I have never tried to use my card for special discounts but I am going to check it out during my trip out west next month.
Have a wonderful day!

I signed up for it and ready to pay the fee, until I found out that I am still too young for benefits.  So much junk mail.

I have been a member for a few years, but don't use many of their benefits.  I keep forgetting about them.  I do use their discount when traveling - motels and such.  Even if I don't use their benefits, I feel good about being a member.  They are involved in a lot of things that involve the "over 55" population.

Yes I have AARP and have used it for discounts on hotels when on vacation. My mom uses it for insurance purposes.

I have used it for discounts traveling, saves some. Also used it for some damage on the roof, paid right away. Dad has it and he had a flood in his house, broken water line.  they paid very good on it and also on a lot of personal items also. Boy was that a job.  I had to do it for him as he is hard of hearing. good thing that I had a lot of carry over  minutes on my cell phone.  this is the first time I have ever had to do such a big one.  They even paid for a company to come and dry out his house and check for mold.  That took about 9 days as the water ended up in the basement and was about 2 and a half feet deep. We bought a sump pump and started getting the water out right  away and they paid for it too. What a job.
