The long wait for trials is sometimes caused by cases that are lawsuits/appeals by those who think they were wronged when found guilty even though evidence proves otherwise. I don't know how many appeals I've seen where the new "go word" for appeal is "insufficient representation" on the part of their attorney, or "new evidence." In fact, one such case just popped up again for the new evidence defense who was convicted of killing his wife in 1991 (never found her body). She died in 1989. The new evidence was the same evidence filed time after time since that year, which has been turned down by the court every time. This man still affirms he is innocent so I don't know. You would think he would contact that Innocence Project and get them to work on the case.

Some of these appeals go back so far, you wonder why they bother, except to clog the courts with nonsense.

The justice system in this country is messed up. Killers should get a swift trial, and an even swifter punishment after conviction.
