Does anyone else here sew?
« on: July 17, 2015, 09:24:43 am »
I sewed for many years, then didn't for a few years. I bought a new machine and am getting ready to start sewing again. It seems like not many people sew anymore. Do you?

I do sometimes, years ago I made all of my sons western shirts as you could not hardly find them let alone getting them to fit.  Also made some of my clothes. But those days have come and gone. sometimes I will do some sewing for arts and crafts. Mostly I just do patching and hemming pants for my dad.

Oh my God, no!  One day, years ago, I was at work and my dress (had to wear them then) had buttons down the front.  Well, one fell off and one of the girls gave me her sewing kit.  I sewed the button on, and right onto my slip! LOL , so no don't sew!

I am a cheap skate who loves money...of course I sew. I sew buttons back on, mend holes in my pants or frayed trouser cuffs...I have even patched blue jeans. I tend to wear out the left elbow of all of my dress shirts and typically create a nice new seam.  I have stopped darning socks.  I have put new zippers on back packs.  I take pride in the fact that I can make a pair of jeans last eight to ten years.  I am on year six with a pair of work boots. I have sunglasses that are over twenty five years old. I get excited when I get new free things like new sunglasses with my latest order of coffee beans (cheaper with whole beans and by the five pound lot). I have warn them for two weeks while riding to and from my day job on my scooter (one hundred miles to the gallon).

When I was raising my children I sewed all the time.  I would sew each night after they got their homework and went to bed.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)

Yes. I sew. I used to make clothes. Now I buy things and remodel them to fit the way I want.  I also make repairs and adjustments for members of my family...and I quilt.

I used to sew when I had a machine and I was a mom with little ones - but the little ones grew up and the machine went to "machine heaven" and I haven't sewn since then but I have crocheted!
