Pretty exciting to hear that NASA made it to pluto....9 years and several billion miles later....quite an accomplishment...I don't think many people appreciate the effort and calculations that went into making it happen!

Not officially, but some of the planetary astronomers on the New Horizon project have suggested that it should be reclassified.

I guess you can say the same thing about life and how much in order this universe is and the lack of appreciation to our Creator from the majority of this world!

It's very exciting. I read in an article today they're going to use data they collect from this trip to, hopefully, restore Pluto's status. I thought it was dumb it got downgraded in the first place. I read a while back that Mercury was even smaller than Pluto and it's still considered a planet.

Well no.  But in the next breath they called him a dwarf planet.  I will always think of Pluto as a planet.

The photos are amazing.   It may be a lot of money but for me personally, I  don't mind my tax dollars going for space exploration.  We have no idea of what we can learn from this type of expenditure.

I agree this is amazing stuff that I want the rest of the world to be amazed by too.  Scientists are amazing people and I admire the service that they do for us medically, technologically, and socially.

I read a while back that Mercury was even smaller than Pluto and it's still considered a planet.

Mercury is twice the size of Pluto, but size isn't the only criteria they use.
