Only if I know them personally or through friends who knows really that they can't afford it, I'm not gonna give someone who can work and earn money but he is lazy and I don't see beer is one of the essentials in daily living!

I would not give money as a rule. Especially to one who smelled of alcohol. It can be a good idea to ask if they need anything. Often, a bus pass to look for a job, clean clothing, etc. can be extremely helpful. In today's economy, many people are losing jobs and homes. The problem is not restricted to chronic drunks and addicts. Sometimes the smallest gesture can make a huge difference. Many just want a way out and to return to the lifestyle they once had.

I wish I could help them....though I think they need more then money...They need Legislation...that helps them and keeps off the streets.

Seems like Your a judged a human being just not if you don't have a dime.

I thought we were all born equal to be happy and loved....not forgotten when we're down....

Yes! if i have money i do! I don't like thinking about what they gonna use it for. If in my heart i felt like giving i do and turn around.  ;D

i have once or twice, but as a general rule, i don't. the majority of homeless people who've asked were obviously drunk. maybe they WOULDN'T use the money on more booze, but you can never be sure.

i have however done a lot of volunteer work though.

I have a heart for the homeless, but I hate that they panhandle on the corner every week and they recognize you. I give most of the time, but not always. I'd rather give them food or get what they need if i can.

We don't give money to the homeless, who knows how they will spend it.  There was this one time we drove by this dad and his two kids while he was holding up a sign that said that he would work for food.  We felt bad for the kids so we went to the closest Mcdonalds and bought two happy meals and a big mac meal.  We brought it to them and the little kids were so happy( they were about 5 and 6 years old.). I will never forget how their faces lit up.  The dad said thank you and as we drove off I saw them all sit down to eat.  I will never forget them.  We drove by the next day but they were not there.
