My daughter gets free Amazon Prime while she is taking her PhD courses at the University of the Cumberlands.  I have taken advantage of it!  I love the free shipping.  She got her dad two pair of shoes during the Christmas in July sale.  $100 shoes for $18.99 each!

I do have Amazon Prime and like it because you do get your stuff within two days, so if you need a present quickly, it's great!  I don't pay totally for it, though.  A family member signed up for it, then you are able to share it with three (maybe 4) other members of your family, by sending them a link.  So my daughters and I have it too,  and we each paid something to the person who signed up for it, so she doesn't bear the full cost.  However, that person gets to see the Amazon Prime videos, which we can't.  I don't mind though.

Seeing that you are relatives that person could either share the pin with you for prime videos or just sign in once that's all that's needed.
I just purchased a $60 clipper for $19.99 today in one of the prime deals/daily sales. And I always compare prices.
