Boils
« on: July 05, 2015, 05:19:58 am »
Has anyone ever had one of these?

Needless to say yesterday was my first time experiencing a boil and i did not like it very much lol
We went to the er early  in the morning because my eye was so swollen it looked like it was shut
They "lanced" it and that was horrifying it hurt like crazy!
It literally felt like the doctor was beating my face in because she was squeezing it that hard!
Although i'm sure for a good cause because if the infection didn't come out it would
have kept coming back with a vengence..
They sent me home with some strong medication and a packed wound. ( to keep it draining)
I was suprised at the fact that i didn't cry.
If you never had a boil consider yourself lucky because i hope i NEVER get one again! ugh!

That sounds absolutely terrible! I hope things are improving.
I have never had a boil and hope I never do.
Right now I am dealing with hives and I think I would rather deal with that than a boil.
Hope you have a speedy recovery and a great day! :rainbow: :rainbow: :peace: :peace:

I don't know about a boil, that sounds more like an abscess to me! My sister use to get these in the strangest of places. I recall one time where she had an abscess under her tooth! It made her tooth turn pink. She was in so much pain some of the time that she would pass out! Another time she had one under her nail which is a difficult place to lance, so the doctor burnt a hole in her nail (with a hot paperclip!) so it could ooze properly. My sister eventually grew out of them.  I feel sorry for you and hope that your body cleanses itself quickly.

I'm so sorry you were in such pain! I have had one on my leg before that started as a festered ingrown hair...and it hurt like the dickens! I didn't go to the ER...just burned the tip of a needle with a lighter to sterilize it and lanced it myself..then kept antibiotic cream on it...I hope you heal up fast!

Ouch Ouch Ouch I have had one lanced before but it didn't have to be packed for some reason.  Sorry you had to go through that and hope it gets better very quickly.

I think boil is the old term for abscess. Anyway, they are one in the same. My husband had once under his nail too! strange!

Just reading this causes me pain. My mother has had them before, following chemo, in some very bad places. I recently had a friend of a friend who had one near their anus. I know not the best topic, but needless to say, that is a scary place to have one! You can get serious infections that can even lead to death! Who knew?

Boils are usually good to get if you get it in the right place (on your behind), never heard of one on your eye, that sounds like a abscess or something.  But who knows what they are calling them these days.  Get well soon.

I had one in a very bad place once and it was horribly painful. I opened it up myself but ended up going to the doccter for antibiotics.  I hope I never have another.
