Well there are many reasons dogs scratch...
-fleas&ticks
-allergies
-skin conditions
-boredum
-etc
The first thing to do is to identify the problem
Alot of dogs start scratching more around summer...
heat , allergies, and fleas& ticks is the most common reasons
When i first got my pup at 6 weeks he had mange.. I started to ask around, get recommendations, and even ask professional help.. Well In conclusion we got a great product called Sulfodene.. which runs about $3.99 a bottle It cleared his mange up pretty quick....
We also found out he is very sensitive to shampoos so i basically use the oatmeal shampoo's as a bathe..
I have tried many itching relief's and not many of them work... (which i am actually using one now for the itch relief which semi-works half the time it dogs stop them from scratching for a while which is good!)
Needless to say.. he still scratches but not as bad as before..
but the mange is no longer an issue..
Dawn Dish Soap is actually pretty effective for propelling flea's (outside is the best place to do this if indeed your dog has flea's and or ticks)
Also over bathing and to much shampoo can cause their skin to dry out and the itching begins..
I have also Recently heard about mixing Epsolm Salt with warm water and washing the infected area (I have not tried this yet but plan on trying it in the future)
I am actually pretty thrilled about this post as i may get some information someone else know's that i did not that could help my pup's as well!
