I have downgraded my cable from having it to antenna. One thing it`s a lot cheaper just having antenna. I do miss my shows that are on cable though.

There are also situations where you intend to upgrade a service and you end up downgrading your service because the intended upgrade is actually no good.

This actually happened to me once.. I went to upgrade my service which meant (bundling) I had called in several times complaining and they have the gull to tell me  the reason my services are not working properly is because i did not "bundle properly" (meaning i didn't add 3 services instead i added 2 which was tv and internet instead of tv, internet and phone which i wasn't going to pay for the phone because everyone has cellphones and which case there is no need for a in-home telephone) So the suppose upgrade was not so much of an upgrade rather a downgrade that you paid a little extra for.. (which got canceled) ;)

We downgraded from Directv to a digital antenna, bought a Roku and added Netflix.  Directv had gotten little over $100; we pay total of $8.65 a month now.  Our Roku costs me $30 as I bought it from someone who no longer wanted it and the digital antenna was about $40 I believe.  So, initial one-time investment of $70 is saving us over $90 a month.  Digital antenna is not the best all the time but we don't mind as we only watch TV a couple of hours in the evenings.  Plus we can always find something to watch on Netflix.

We have a vacation home with no access to TV channels on our TV.  We've been playing DVD's for entertainment.  But we just experienced an upgrade when a friend of ours learned how to make us an antenna from a YouTube video.  We now have one of the major channels that comes through perfectly!

We downgraded our cable, but it's only saving us $25...The search for a better alternative continues.

I haven't paid for tv for years and I cut out everything I didn't use on my phone bill as well.  I don't consider them downgrades on services, but upgrades on living.  :moneymouth:

In my financially-strapped state, I have continued to downgrade practically all of my services.

Those things are both true. You have to decide what is the most benefical. Cable TV downgrading is sometimes a good thing. Software upgrading is good sometimes. Upgrading appliances when you buy new ones is usually always a good thing. Better energy efficiency saves. BMaston12

Yes very true, I downgraded my tv service and I cut my phone bill down to 10 bucks, a home phone is a good thing to have.
