If I have a use for a electronic device I will use it... Desktop for school, entertainment, and gaming. Phone for quick communication with my friends, teammates, and family. Tablet/Laptop if I find the college computers too obsolete and I have time in between classes to do work or watch a movie

Internet gaming disorder is a proposed addictive disorder in the new DSM (the reference book used by mental health and medical professionals.) I absolutely think just about anything can be addictive.

I think that over-technification has definitely aided in the over abundance of people with attention deficit disorder.  I go to dinner at a restaurant and over sixty percent of the people are texting or playing with their phones. Phones are on during work/school when people should be concentrating on the task at hand. People are even plying with their phones while driving, watching television or holding a conversation with another person. It is no wonder that Adderall has become the number one overly prescribed drug in the world. To make up for the time wasted on one's telephone/ipad people go to staying awake longer in order to make for lost time.  It is like a bad perpetual circle pushing people into further craziness!

I agree, some people are just way too dependent on their electronic devices. Don't get me wrong, about 75% of the day, I'm fiddling with my phone and checking Facebook, etc. However, there are times when I just can't wait to get to an area where my phone doesn't have any service, that way, I'm forced to just forget about it and just take in everything around without the need for electronic devices.

I think that all of this extra gadgetry leads to a sensory over load akin to taking babies to shopping centers. There is just so much to get distracted with. I think that it is also one of the reasons that so many people feel that they have attention deficit disorder and Adderal/Ritalin are some of the most overly prescribed medications on the market. People wake up and check their emails on their phones. They go to the bathroom and spend an extra fifteen minutes in a stall playing with their phones. They check and answer their e-mails and rarely, if ever, go for more than forty five minutes without checking their phones. Most people no longer wear wrist watches choosing, instead, to check their phones. Families sit down to dinner at a restaurant and have a hard time communicating because they are playing with their phones.
