Yesterday I parked my car in front of our house, on the road. At dinner time, I heard an almighty crash outside our house so I ran out the front to see if somebody needed help. I was annoyed to see that someone had rammed my car 8 feet forward smashing the rear light, denting the bodywork and busting the bumper and goodness only knows about the unseen damage. I saw a truck disappearing round the corner and made a mental note of the color. I ran across the road to speak to my neighbor who also heard the crash, but didn't see anything, and then a military guy on a motorbike stopped to see if he could help. I explained that a truck heading south had rammed my car and he swiftly turned around to see if he could catch the guy. I ran in to call 911 and the operator said "Yes we already have that call". I couldn't believe it. How had somebody called already. The military man on the motorbike came back a few minutes later to say he couldn't find the guy but I thanked him for trying. Later the police arrived and took details and I found out from him that there was a guy following this truck who saw what happened. He called the police and followed the truck until the police arrived. They caught the guy. Later in the evening, the guy who had witnessed the incident, called the police and followed the truck came to knock on my door. I was so grateful for his swift action because without it, I'm sure the police would not have caught the guy. And to the military man, again, thank you for helping a stranger! Two heros in my book.
