Death Penalty?
« on: April 08, 2015, 04:13:44 pm »
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found guilty for the part he played in the Boston Bombing incident.  During that incident, 3 people were killed and 260 people were injured.

A police officer was killed in the days following the attack as Tsarnaev and his brother, who also died, attempted to flee.

Should this individual be put to death?

What are your thoughts about the death penalty, in general?
Have a great day!

Truth is, I don't have all the facts.  I don't want to condemn a man with only minimal information.

I'm glad he was convicted. I'm personally against the death penalty for a variety of reasons.

My only reason for opposing the death penalty in this case is this man believes by dying he will go to paradise as a martyr.  Someone suffering in solitary lockup for the rest of his life (which could be many years) seems as though it would cause him more suffering.

If I were a juror I would vote for the death penalty for this man. Even if he was influenced by his brother, he seemed like a willing follower and he showed no remorse whatsoever after the incident.

I do feel sorry for everyone who is in a situation where they need to participate in making a decision whether someone should live or die. I have never been a juror and I have asked myself this question many times (such as with the cases of Jodi Arias and Casey Anthony). Generally speaking, I think there is a time and a place for the death penalty. The situation would need to be extreme such as the ones who were responsible for 911 but I don't think I could impose it when someone has murdered just one person. So with this case, which is kind of inbetween, I don't think I could vote for death but I would vote for life in prison with no possibility of parole. But, could I be persuaded? Yes!

i agree he deserves something harsh i have to say i dont have enough info but the voice in my head keeps repeating these words ,  thou shalt not kill   maybe a whipping with a whip daily for the rest of his life would be more appropriate,  maybe with harsher punishments there would be less crime.  I think that they should lose all the supposed rights that they have in prison they are in prison for petes sake why are they allowed so much. when i was a kid when i was bad i got no tv the prison rules need to be harsher

In my mind and heart I support the death penalty - it is ridiculous the money spent on housing people who have committed heinous crimes and that isn't even to mention letting them have lawsuits trying to get out of the sentence they received but with that said I don't know how it all fits with God and christianity so ????? And look at all the people who ended up getting out of prison years and years later because they weren't even guilty.  Not that I think that is the case with this guy but you see my point if they had been put to death there would have been no chance for the innocent to be vindicated.  It is a difficult question.

I have no problem with the death penalty. He definitely deserves it! Besides it's cheaper than keeping inmates locked up...free room and board, food, medical treatment, etc.

I think the death penalty is too easy a way out for him. He needs to suffer for this and I mean suffer in both physical and emotional. Is there some other method other than the death penalty or hanging?  I have a few family members who's lives are not the same physically because of his coward act.
