health insurance
« on: February 27, 2015, 10:38:22 am »
I am just here to blow off a little steam.  I had health care that I paid for myself since it wasn't offered to me through my job.  In 2009 when I signed up for it it was 243 a month for two of us.  I am in the 55-60 age bracket so medicare is a while off for me.  Well, with the affordable care act, my work hours went from 38 to 28 so that I wouldn't be deemed a full time employee for which health care would have to be provided.  Then due to the ACA mandates, my insurance, while grandfathered in, changed some now mandatory benefits and the premium went to over $500 a year.  SO......after many research hours and considerations, chief of which is that I can't afford $500 a month at my nearly minimum wage job, I bit the bullet and signed up for ACA coverage.  The I chose has a deductible which is twice what my previous plan had and the co pay is now 40% instead of 10%, but with my income, it was significantly lower monthly premium.  Now here is the next bite.....I wasn't able to get signed up in time for a Feb coverage (my fault entirely as I was trying to fiqure out what to do) so, I have to pay the Feb premium under my old plan which I had put on my credit card in order to pay.  If i didn't, I would be fined over $600  for not having coverage for one month.  I freaking hate what they did to health care.  Thanks for listening.  I feel so screwed!

Ibeery....seek out your nearest congress man or woman.Maybe they can help you.

I had a plan last yr i was paying $150 a month for me and wife.I forgot to enroll again for 2015.I made an honest mistake.I just figured if i paid my premiums <plus they went up to $268>i was covered.

Boommmmmmmm.....i get a premium for Jan 2015 over $800.I said,WTF is this? Then i found out i had to re-cerify.I called up and complained and called my congress woman.I know i must have NOT been only 1 who made this mistake.

No matter how you view it,the healthcare su*ks in the good ol USA.But at least we are FREE!!!LOL!!!

I am so sorry that happened to you.  The ACA is better than having no health insurance.  However, the problems like what you are experiencing must be resolved.

I am covered by Denali Kid Care because I am pregnant. After I have my baby I will look into what ObamaCare health insurance have to offer. I am not happy with it but I will take a look at it.

It would if I had ever voted for him. I don't think it affects anyone who actually voted for him. They're just looking for change and they're getting it. Hope they like it. I don't.

Of course, this is all my opinion and everyone is entitled to just that. I don't like to get political because it creates such division.  :peace:  Oops! i just did.  :-[

Dear lbeery, you are so entitled to feel that way. It's so totally unfair!  :(
