I have volunteered at the Veteran's hospital and at the Senior convalescent homes. It gives you a real good feeling inside and also gives the patients good feelings to know some people do care about them.

Yes! And it has been very rewarding knowing that "I helped so many people in need".

I used to do a lot when I was in HS such as doing hygiene bags for the poor, serving food at soup kitches, walking for cancer society, working with elders.

That's great, I wish they did that at mine.  It should be required for all high school kids.  :glasses-nerdy:

I was volunteer crew for various hot air balloons, including British teams at Balloon Fiesta, for fifteen years.  I also volunteered with the local art league for eight ears and crewed for four short films through the Duke City Shootout filmmaking competition.  :highfive:

I haven't, as such, done volunteer work on a regular schedule, however I have volunteered my time at my kids schools for various events and field trips. I always feel exhausted by the end of the day however I know it's really helped the Teachers. How would they cope on a field trip without parental help I wonder?

:) I joined the American Legion. As a Vietnam Vet, I found myself wanting to help other Veterans. This is a good way and there are a lot of programs with the American Legion who would love to have you. :)

I was volunteering thru our Church for Meals on Wheels; we delivered meals on a certain route once a month.  We enjoyed it but the powers that be started contracting it out instead of using volunteers.  I volunteered at a nursing home when I was in high school and it was so depressing I couldn't do it again.

Volunteer work  is great.  I have been a volunteer adult  literacy tutor in a major  metro area for twelve years.  This has been such a blessing in my life.

I've done volunteer work of various kinds for most of my adult life.
Most recently I've been a volunteer at the local Y - helping to run the monthly book sale.  It is a fundraiser for scholarships for kids who can't otherwise afford it.
I also regularly do sewing for charitable causes and really enjoy that.  I've met some outstanding people doing this kind of work and it feels good to be contributing in this way.
