What to cook on cold days
« on: February 14, 2015, 09:25:05 pm »
Hello Everyone!
Well, in the area that I reside in the weather is once again getting cold for awhile. I was just wondering what other individuals enjoy cooking or doing when the weather is cold? I enjoy just staying inside where it is warm and making chilli, corn bread and home made cinnamon rolls! I love to bake so when the weather is cold that is what I do, not to mention the heat from the oven also helps to warm the apartment and makes it smell soooo good!
Hoping everyone having a good valentines day! :angel11:

When I do cook on cold days, I use the crock pot so that I don't really have to watch the food all day. I usually fix soup or I may fix a pot roast, that way I can have left overs. I rarely use my oven unless it's the holidays.

Soup is always good a cold day. Tomato soup with grilled cheese is a favorite of mine. I also really like mashed potatoes.

For sure it's soup.   Love a big pot of soup on the stove.  Filling, satisfying and warms the body.   That's the plan for today.  For the past couple of years we've made Sunday a soup day during winter.  It's always fun to find new soup recipes.  Have to admit, it's not always a success but most times it's a winner.

Our go to even here in Florida is chili - we have had three pots of it so far this year - next would be either beef stew or loaded potato soup.  Wow now I'm hungry but speaking of which we still have a small serving of chili left for today out of our last pot.

I too like to stay in and sometimes I will cook a pot of soup or chili.  There is nothing like a good bowl of hot soup or chili to warm you up.

When its cold here (as it is today), I make home made soup or stew, macaroni and cheese, for breakfast I will make oatmeal.  Sometimes I will make a potroast and veggies. Occasionally chili is on the menu

Green chili stew or just plain chili is good on a cold day. Corn bread is a must then. Sometimes we have a pot of posole green of course and crackers or cornbread.  I guess you can tell ilke green chili.
