How many languages do you speak?

I speak english, but I'm trying to learn spanish. I wish I could roll my tongue to speak correctly, but practice makes perfect!

Dancer139, you are so right!  I speak English and some German.  my grandparents came from Germany, they did learn English, but we also learned German.  They died many years ago, so I can't remember alot of it because I don't use it anymore..

I think people with the "go back to where you came from if you can't speak English" mentality are missing great opportunities for expanding their life experience.  I have had some great conversations communicating with some people who are trying to learn English.  They really appreciate your going an extra step or two to understand them.  Some of us seem to forget that our not-so-long-ago ancestors came from other countries.  Unless you are Native American, your cannot say your ancestors from centuries back are American.  If you only want to speak English, it might be good to also learn to write it.

This is about the only country that people seem to feel like this. Everywhere else in the world people tend to speak multiple languages then we have the people in the United States who think I only need English and everyone else needs to learn my language or leave.

My Spanish has gotten horrible recently since I'm not actively practicing anymore. I speak some German and French but not enough to even attempt a full conversation

I'm fluent in English.  I used to have conversational level Spanish and Russian - but both are way out of practice.  I'm sure if I ever emmersed myself in either language they would eventually come back to me.
