Why do most Wal-Mart employees act so rude?
« on: January 07, 2015, 03:51:10 pm »
I went to the Wal-Mart today because I had ordered some books by my favorite author from Wal-Mart.com.  One of the books I ordered, I already had.  They almost didn't take the book back because they said they don't take back books.  I told them I had just got them in the mail the day before.  Finally, a manager came up and took the book back.

I have always had the best experiences at Walmart! I enjoy the employees and never had any problems there.

yeah they are serious about those books. I had the same problem one time. They said that you had to return any reading material within 24 hours. I guess they want to make sure you are not reading it and then bringing it back. They should still honor it for longer than 24 hours, most people are honest.

Perhaps it is the really crummy hours that they need to work. Or the extremely low wages that most likely do not cover all of their bills. Or maybe it is the really rude clientele that shows them no respect on a constant basis.  Maybe they are wondering how they ended up there after working towards a degree in college that no longer has a demand. Might even be that they are stuck there for forty hours and too exhausted to look for a job when they get home. Might even be that they are sacrificing their dreams by working there to support their families.  Perhaps they are getting pulled in fifty different directions by ten different department managers. Maybe their break was overlooked and they have been on their feet for over five hours.  Try to put yourself in their shoes and I bet you could find a dozen more reasons why they appear rude to you.

Simple, Wal-Mart doesn't care about it's customers and therefore they don't care about their customer service.  They will hire anyone and I can only assume that they don't pay real well by the people working there.  Bottom line, I see Wal-Mart as a necessary evil.

If it is like most retail stores right now, after the holidays everyone seems to be worked to death.  And you hear every excuse for why they are returning stuff, and many of them are really rude to the employees.  Everyone needs to just be a little nicer to everyone else.

The book thing may have to do with copyright laws.

Wal-Mart treats their employees deplorably, no surprise their employees are angry and treat customers the same.

The book thing has to do with the fact that some people might use walmart like it's a public library; buy a book, read it, return it and never have to pay for a book.  When I worked for JC Penney, I watched young girls buy an expensive dress for prom and return it for a refund the day after prom.  Some people don't have scruples or integrity.

Walmart employees are seriously underpaid and they are expected to comply.  A typical employee must follow rules and are not authorized to override those rules.  That being said, we all have a choice of whether or not we spend money at Walmart, in the first place.

Have a great day!

As a past employee of Walmart, I can attest to the fact that they treat their employees horribly. When anyone asks me about my experience working at Walmart, I tell them that they worked us like dogs and treated us like dogs, so yes, you will not see happy faces there.  I have been in the workforce for over 40 years and never was I treated so badly than at Walmart. I do not mind working hard, but do not expect me to be motivated and have a good attitude when I receive zero positive feedback or respect from my employer.

If it it true that WalMart treats its employees as badly as described (and I have little reason to doubt, although I'm sure different locations are not the same), then we should all protest by shopping at WalMart less.  I have already begun doing so for the past few years as I wanted to support some of the smaller businesses in my community.  I do NOT want to see smaller business overwhelmed by any conglomerate that is as big as WalMart, because then you are prey as with any monopoly.

I usually get a good employeee when I need help at Walmart. But there are some who are not. We have to remember that their pay is very low and their hours are not so great either. I don't think employees are treated very well by the company. There is a reason why so many law suits have been filed against them. Next tiome youre treated badly at Walmart, maybe you should ask yourself"How well would I be treating customers if Walmart was the onl,y job I could get?"

Maybe it's because they don't get paid a hell of a lot of money to work there. You only get what you pay for. And since Walmart employees are under paid, they are not going to give their all to the job.
