Monday morning Rudeness!
« on: January 05, 2015, 06:07:58 am »
Who else thinks that clocking in as you walk into your work place while being obnoxiously loud on your cell phone and continue the call at your desk for another 30 minutes is RUDE? I know I think so but apparently my supervisors won't say anything to this person because of politics and favoritism! I shake my head and this place and count the years until I retire! OR when I become boss, things will CHANGE!  ;)

I remember life before cell phones.  Do you remember those days: if you had to talk to someone on the phone, you went to a pay phone and deposited a coin before dialing?  LOL

Things were much quieter back then, that's for sure.  Yes, I agree with you, it's very rude.  I don't like phones anyway much less cell phones.

I hope you see needed changes in your place of work very soon.   ;D

Yes, I agree, some cell phone users in general are just plain rude in public places! Nothing is off topic to discuss, they don not care how personal or offensive in some instances; unless we just walk around with ear plugs we are subject to hear anything!

Yes indeed.  There is something to be said about old school.  At our Public Talk this past Sunday, the brother was speaking about the advertising industry and how they try to convince people that they need the latest, greatest phone technology ( any technology for that matter ). After talking about the cell phone industry, he concluded by stating: 'all of this just to make a phone call.' Of course the audience had a good chuckle.

I looked at my husband and whispered something to the affect, I really don't need anything more than my old, outdated flip phone.

It's true, as you stated, that some technology is fine.  My phone does come in handy and I do use and like the internet.  But when these things start to take over one's life, look out!!

Yes, I'd say that is rude.  I've never run into that before.  Course when you work in retail there is zero tolerance for such behavior.  I carry my cell phone on me as I'm not allowed to wear a watch in my department.  With no clock it's a little tricky knowing the time to go on breaks and lunches.  Often times when I punch out for break or lunch I grab my cell and follow up with texting.  I always think the customers must think I'm on the clock since I'm in full uniform... ... so than I think they probably think I'm being rude for not offering to help them.

How can an employee get paid for a 30 minute personal phone call?  When you are boss, you can kick him to the curb.

I like the latter scenario. It is irritating when people talk on their cell or text and completely ignore the world around them. It is like we owe them an apology for invading their space. I will never get that. Too self absorbed. BMaston12

I find that very rude.  This person couldn't have said to the person on the other end, "I'm at work now, I'll call you back later?"  People do not realize how loud they are when speaking on their cell phones.  I have one, it is the only means of communication I have besides my computer, however I follow simple rules of consideration and do not make calls while in crowded places, at the table, or when I am in the presence of others, unless it is an emergency.  If I must make a phone call, I excuse myself from the situation I am in and go to a private place.

At our work, there is zero tolerance for personal calls while out on the operating floor. If someone needs to make such a call, they need to do so in the break room (or outside). Furthermore, cell phones themselves are not allowed unless authorized by the manager (so mostly engineers who may work in several different buildings can carry them so that others at work can get a hold of them while they are away from their desk). I really am surprised that management in your place doesn't also restrict phone usage; after all, using company's time for personal business is tantamount to stealing (taking the company's money / pay while not doing the work for that pay).

Do you think she is deaf while talking on the phone?  Some people don't realize how loud their  voices are when talking on the phone.  Or she is just a rude person and doesn't care who she annoy.

I guess it can be rude, but try to deal with the time of cell phones.

Yes rude and inconsiderate, I have seen it many times but some places and bosses won't do anything about it to certain people and other places you will get terminated for having a cellphone in your work area.  Unfortunately that person might become your boss that's how things seem to work out
