When your gift is rejected!
« on: December 30, 2014, 11:38:22 pm »
I was cleaning  out my parents house before x-mas found x-mas presents from last I gave my brother last year! I felt so sad cuz I also found the large bone I gave my 4legged niece Sadie for x-mas hidden behind the bookshelf! If he didn't want them he could've just given them away! This year I just gave them a hundred bucks & I didn't even the dog!

when you give people something they have the right to do with it as they please. However it's not nice to not show appreciation even if you don't like it.

I doubt that the dog would be sad about it so give it to her this year. Maybe it just got misplaced! Unlike some humans, dogs give unconditional love so she would still be happy to receive it.

I'm sure this has happened to me with gifts I've given others - I'm just not aware of it.  I agree with the last contributor that the dog probably didn't even know there was a gift... it was probably tucked away and forgotten about.  I nearly rejected a gift this year myself.  As I felt it was out of charity and yes I'm not in a wealthy place in my life, however my needs are met.  I accepted the gift with the intention of paying it forward to someone else who really needs things to survive.

this seems to happen every year better to give giftcards or cash at least then you know it will be spent on something they want

You give gifts with good intention, and if it is rejected, it is their problem and not yours.

Maybe at one time I would be more bothered, but the foremost the gift should be something I hope they will be satisfied with.  If this wasn't exactly fulfilled, the person can do as he/she pleases. For the very fussy people, I usually just either get a gift card, money or ask them for an exact list for me to go by.

Wow, that's unfortunate...  :-\
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

My solution to rejected gifts is to ask what they want or need.  this way I know I am buying a gift they will use and not  something that will be put in a closet and forgotten about.

I'm a very practical person so when I'm asked what I want for Christmas I tell them something that I really need.  One year I asked for a new bucket and mop .. my dog ate my previous mop .... lol

I'm sure the dog would have loved the bone...and your brother who knows....just probably forgetful.  The 100 is nice...but maybe you don't even need to exchange gifts any longer...just enjoy time together.  Gifts are really not as important when their forced for the holidays...

That is really unfortunate. I agree with the other posters, the dog will probably love the bone.

I think I would feel bad if a gift I gave someone and it was rejected

Last year I gave my mother some foot warmer slippers.  She's had multiple surgeries on her toes and she could use it but she never did.
