« on: July 30, 2009, 01:13:33 am »
Hi, so i have very little experience with taxes.  I have made about $300 this month. If i make the same amount next month, do i have to file for taxes at the end of the year? ...Also, would they find out if i don't :P

Yes, you have to file taxes for any income over $500.

You are self-employed with net earnings of $400 or more.

I found that at the IRS website....so i can't make more than 400 per year without having to file for taxes? That.....SUCKS!!!

If you're over 25(age) and your income is below $12,500 a year your tax "refund" will be larger than the amount of taxes you pay. So depending, it may not be too bad.

Oh sorry, i think i found the wrong info.  That is for self-employed people, we are considered "independent contractors" and can make up to $599 a year without having to file for taxes.
Thanks you Rastov for your help :)
