yep they just wanna lock you up, and if u decide/have to cancel they'll charge you for it. just a way for them to make money, thats also why buying a new phone with a contract is cheaper

Steady earnings for their shareholders.  I never go longer than a year in a contract.  A very simple phone to receive and make calls, its all I need.

I know Veriaon is the same way! They rope you in to a 2 year contract do yo can get a "free" phone every 2 years. I never take the free phone cuse it is usually pretty bad. We have 4 lines on my plan and golly is our bill high! I adjusted things a few months back and cut minutes and such thinking it would go down, but it went up $50, so I changed back!

its guaranteed service. That way you dont join and leave whenever u feel like it. so in reality those free or discounted phones u get for signing a 2 year contract arnt even free.

Just buy a pre-paid phone and you don't have to sign any contracts, just pay as you go.

Just buy a pre-paid phone and you don't have to sign any contracts, just pay as you go.

This is ok for people that don't do a lot of talking or texting on the phone.  My husband has a prepaid and he spends more a month buying cards or minutes than I do on my phone (I have a plan).  I offered to add him on to my plan, but he swears by the prepaid phones so, I just leave him alone.  Now some of the companies are switching to 1 year contracts instead of 2.  I think everyone is feeling the economic "pinch".

I refuse to ever have another cellular contract.  I haven't had one since 2002 and I will never have another contract.  Prepaid is the way to go for me.
