Some of the stores are changing the way they do it since the stampedes and fatalities.  But there will always be very rude  people.    At Walmarts near us if you are in the line, they have people out checking the lines, you are guaranteed you will get the item  before Christmas if it is already sold out.   You went in and paid for it, then if it is not in stock they tell you about hen it will be there so that you can come back and pick it up.  Sure kept the people in the lines calm.  Also the lines in individual departments went very quickly.  They also had every one who had not paid in a department get in a single line that went fast because it was feeding into all 10 registers.    :present:

My personal opinion, I think it's ridiculous and I have never participated and never will. The only way I would shop would be to go online but not go to a physical store. I just read a story online yesterday where a guy shot his girlfriend and then killed himself in a Nordstrom's in Chicago. This was during black Friday. Needless to say, the people in the store were alarmed. The girlfriend is supposedly in the hospital.
Here's the other thing about black Friday. Stores have sales throughout the year, so it's not like if I miss a sale that one day that there won't be another one coming up. I'm looking forward to the after-Christmas sales. Not necessarily to buy for others, but for myself. I don't get to buy much for myself so that time will be a treat for me.

I went shopping later on.  I don't get caught up in that early, early mess.  It wasn't bad.

I wanted to go out at night but I was exhausted. I did go out in FRIDAY morning about 8:00 and the stores were not busy!

I never went shopping on Black Friday, but did shop on Saturday.  The crowds were thin, no lines, and still had good sales.

I didn't shop on Friday.  Today is Sunday; I might do some shopping this evening.  You know, it's funny; when I was a kid Friday was the day my mother did all her shopping anyway, and I know we would shop on the day after Thanksgiving, but I don't recall anyone trying to run over others or trample anyone into the asphalt.
