Sales tax is high here and I dislike it but it's part of life.

I wish we didn't have sales tax, but consider it just a part of shopping.  I've never lived in a state that didn't have it.

Here in NY state we have both income tax and sales tax, and the sales tax is one of the highest in the country. What bothers me more is having to pay sales tax (called use tax) on online purchases. It's none of their business what I buy online, and they have no right charging tax on purchases made outside the state.

Everyone pays income tax.  Unless they work under the table or are illegal.  They do have the right to charge sales tax on stuff bought online.  It's no different than buying from a catalog that comes in the mail.  You have always paid tax on that.

We don't pay taxes on food and Meds. here. But I feel like if we all had to pay a flat rate on everything  more taxes would be paid. If also the welfare freeloaders had to pay taxes on everything they buy also would help. having had our own business, we only had to pay taxes on what we sol Never on the products we bout to sell. So if we had to pay taxes on the item it would have meant the manufactor would have had to pay taxes on everything they bought and then we paid taxes on what we bought and then paid taxes on what we sold. That means the item would have made  and paid 3 times for taxes. But big business does not want it.

I pay 6% sales tax on pretty much everything where I live, in Louisville, KY. The only time I don't have to pay taxes is when shopping on Ebay or Aldis Grocery Store. Lol.
