Teenagers Gifts?
« on: November 17, 2014, 07:44:44 am »
What do you give a teenager for Christmas? Maybe a Gift Card? From where? I know some would like one from Game Stop, like my son would.

But what else do you all give a teenager, what do you wrap up for them?

I agree, a gift card would be a good choice. Maybe something like an amazon gift card? They have just about everything on there from clothes, movies, books, etc...it'll give them lots to choose from.

I would recommend technology, a new phone or such. But kids have become disassociated with family due to this, My suggestion would be to strengthen your bond with your teen by taking her shopping. (Be sure to have a budget)

I have a 15 and 16 year old.  My 16 year old loves to do just about anything and everything with us.  My 15 year old however would prefer to become a recluse and escape to ps3 online world with friends.  The 2 are so different there needs for gifts are as well.  For my daughter (I think I've mentioned this before) I would give her a personalized bible. For my son.  I would get him something that involves him going outside or getting active.  In years past It's been.  Baseball glove, tent... the tent was funny - his friends came over and they brought a small tv and wii outside?  Well I got him out but his position didn't change much.

But what else do you all give a teenager, what do you wrap up for them?

If you give them a gift card then that is what they get.  Wrap that up.  Or get something like a candy bar and attach the card to the candy bar and wrap that up.  You can usually get a gift card for the malls that are good for any store in the mall.  But that is assuming they get to go to the mall or any mall.  You could always do Walmart, assuming there is one in your town.  Depends on the age of the teenager.  13 is a teen but they can't go to McDonald's and eat alone so that would be a bad idea.  But if they are 17 and have a car then a fast food place might be a good idea.  Depends on how much you are going to spend.  You could do a $5 card for several different fast food places.  Or you could give them a new wallet and put some cash inside.

Maybe ask their parents what they want.  Another good idea - do you know if this teen has a Pinterest account?  You could set up your own account and then follow their boards and look at things they have pinned.  You can figure out a lot of stuff people want doing that.

A new phone?  Most people are not able to spend $400-$600 on a new phone.  Besides that most phones come with a 2 year contract.  I kind of got the idea the OP was not talking about their own child here.

I don't currently have any teenagers to buy for but I remember being a teenager myself and I loved getting cash for Christmas. However these day there are other options. You could get a gift card which of course is only applicable for one store, or you could get a visa pre-paid card which can be spent at the store of the teenager's choosing. I remember trying to buy me gifts before we changed onto cash, and I just felt she was scrambling to buy the right thing and it gave her stress.

I know most of them love gift cards like fandango movie theaters, Macy's, or Amazon's gift card.

Either a Ebay or Amazon giftcard if you don't know what giftcard to get... You can't go wrong in Amazon since you can buy electronic, supplies, cooking wares, etc.. Ebay is the same deal as Amazon, but ebay has more options on gaming gift cards... For instance they have retailers selling some of the giftcards to ebay (like Best Buy).. However the shipping will take awhile, usually a week

When I have an ebay giftcard I buy a Steam Wallet card (PC game related gift card) from the Best Buy seller.. They have the same price in the Best Buy website, but I gain ebay bucks for buying it in ebay (especially the 5x ebay bucks deal you get like a 10% discount)... A lot cheaper and cost efficient than buying from the Steam market or Best Buy
