zoocrewmom, i believe you are correct, obama is not for the people, you should raise your children anyway you would like, and no one should take that right away from you as a parent.

Thanks. I just don't get how he thinks signing that treaty will make our country any better. We need to work together as a group without a bunch of other countries telling us what we need to do.

true that! people don't have much say in the decisions the government takes, a treaty will most likely not make anything better for the country, you are right we need to work together as a group, and we should have a say as citizens of this country as to what will need change, what is best for the kids, we need to take charge, and stop letting one man make all the decisions.. obama; it doesn't benefit anybody.
much respect to zoocrewmom

This logic scares me.  It's acceptable to name my child Heinrich Himmler and teach him to despise all non-Aryan people?  A line is to be drawn, for good reason.  If you would like to propose a more capable organization outside of the government that can draw this line, I'm interested to hear about it.

I find it kind of humorous though that people think something passed by the UN is really going to effect them all that much...

Personally, I love Obama, I  think he is going to bring about some really good changes. My entire family voted for him during this election. He seems like he truly CARES about the people in this country, and thats very vital in being a good president.
I agree.

It may not be acceptable to society, but it certainly shouldn't be against the law.

Of course it shouldn't be tolerated by society or by the court of law.

What you're saying is that a child has absolutely no rights in a parent-child relationship, excluding physical abuse (hopefully you disagree with child abuse)?  You don't think a child being named Heinrich Himmler is going to hurt him in the future, when he goes to school, tries to make friends, tries to get a job, tries to have his name called in roll the first week of school, tries to do anything besides sit in his house all day?  You don't think putting a child through that for 18 years until they can legally change their name -- and even then the background will always be there and the scars have been set, as he's guaranteed to get picked on in school -- is a legitimate right of a parent?

In a case like this:  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,479904,00.html

where you have three kids named Adolf Hitler Campbell, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell (yes, her middle name is freakin Aryan Nation) and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell -- you really don't think the parents are at fault legally, never mind the social repercussions?  You don't think this is a form of abuse in any shape or fashion and the kids should just be left in the house as if they're not being effected?

Naming any child names of those nature basically guarantees them a life as an outsider, it is psychological abuse. You're purposely cutting them off from the rest of society before they've even gotten a chance to learn how to walk.  How is that a legitimate right of a parent?

On a random side note, are you pro-life or pro-choice?

I don't think people disagree with the idea that he's cleaning up for years of crap (not just Bush Jr.); I think people disagree on the way he's attempting to do it.

In defense of our County... it has been "free" a long time.  We have the freedom to do so many things that other countries do not.  Our children have the choice of schools and we have our choice of religion and get this guys.... we have the freedom to say what we want on sites like this because our country is Free!!  So many don't have the luxury we do... times are tough, but that doesn't mean we are not a free country!!  Where on earth do you get the idea that it ISN'T free??

There's still 3 1/2 years left regardless.  He said it will take time to fix the nation, and when he said that he also said it would take at least 1 term, if not more.  I am sorry but Obama did not make this country poor, Bush did.  I was laid off from my job 2 weeks after Obama was sworn in.  The economy didnt suddenly tank in 14 days to the point where my company decided to downsize my position - that was a long drawn out plan from the end of the Bush reign.
Hate Obama if you want, it doesnt bother me, but dont put the blame on him when he is trying to fix the nation.  He was the unfortunate elect to a nation on the decline - McCain would be in the same position right now too, just with different programs and ways of attempting to fix the horrible mess the world is in.

What on earth scares you? I don't care what you name your child. If you want to name him Muttley have at it. And your confused, I don't teach my children to hate anyone. Hate is a waste of time, energy and thought process. I want the opportunity to raise my child as I see fit, that means we home school since the schools in my area are a waste of time and they are now getting the education they deserve to go in in life and make a career for themselves.

Do you even know that signing that treaty would trump all state laws concerning anyone's children? Do you know that this could possibly effect my rights on discipline, education and if we we're religious our religion? This could possibly break up what we know as families today. Don't get me wrong, I think that all children have a basic right to education, good food and free of abuse. However, giving the UN the right to tell our country what to do is irresponsible to our citizens.

I'm sorry, but one man cannot ruin (or in Obama's case, Fix) any country on their own.  Bush is not the sole destroyer of our economy... it was a down slide starting with Lord knows where and unless someone fixes it right away, it's going to continue for sometime.  I'm not putting blame on Clinton or Bush, or Bush Sr. for that matter... but it started long before... Bush may have done a poor job too, but he is not responsible for it all!!
