my ihop experience
« on: November 08, 2014, 07:25:32 am »
recently we had an ihop open in our town. we went last night and I have to say, I wasn't  impressed. first of all, we had to park in the parking lot next door. next we had a 15 minute wait which wasn't too bad considering I heard people waiting 45 minutes earlier this week. then after ordering, it took us about 30-40 minutes to get our food. if that was not bad enough, they had a section of seats that were only being used for employee use. about 20 tables. that's wrong when you have people waiting. I know it will be a long time before going back. I would rather go to dennys. at least they give you fast service.

I'm guessing that since this store just opened, that management is trying to figure everything out. Usually the first few days are really packed and sometimes it's better to wait a couple of days to go to a new restaurant just so that you won't have to have a long wait and a not so good expericence. Just don't let that visit hinder you from going again in the future...I'm sure it will be better.

It probably was because it was just opened.  We have one close to use, wait time is very short for a booth, food is always delivered hot and on time.  I would wait a few weeks until they get the operation in good order then try again, hopefully it will turn out good.

It sounds like your iHop is having growing pains.   Give it a few months to have them work out the kinks & try again.  If they still are providing bad service, well, there is other competitors to choose from.

I went to IHOP and got pumpkin pancakes. They were good for a change. I am trying to get into the season. Always love to get my pumpkin fix. IHOP was something different.

That wouldn't be so bad for a new restaurant in a way if they learn from their mistakes but I think they won't.  It seems like restaurant management doesn't think from the customer's viewpoint and if they don't - well things won't change.  We never eat out because of issues like that along with not trusting cleanliness and because of finances.  We find we can copycat most things we like to eat out and just enjoy it at home.  Anyway sorry you didn't have an enjoyable experience.  :sad1:

The only time I remember being in ihop is that their bottled syrup was crusted over from the messy usage of the other customers (11 years ago).. The food is good on its own but seriously

Yes, there does always seem to be a crowd, especially on weekends, however I have gone during the week and not experienced the crowd, so I guess the time you go has a lot to do with it.

Everyone deserves a second chance, even a restaurant. If it were your restaurant, wouldn't you want your customers to let you know what problems you experienced and how they might improve on that? I really believe in letting the establishment know what you liked and did not like so they can get better, or at least more to your liking.  :highfive:

Sorry you had a bad experience there but sometimes it's our own attitudes that get in the way of enjoyment. I speak from experience on that.  :notworthy:

Yeah, I've had my share of poor experiences at both ihop and denny's.  Usually when that happens, it's a long time before I go back, if ever.  There are lots of Mom & Pop places around that I would rather bring my business to.  Better yet, I prefer to stay home and use my own kitchen. LOL
