Do you call your parents by their first names?

I never called my parents by their first names, but when my girls were little, 2 years, they started calling my husband and myself by our first names.  We were confused why they did that until we realized that was the only names they knew.  Sure my husband would say go to yoyr mommy, or I would say daddy wants you, but he called me by my name and I called him by his.  When family or friends came over, they called us by our names.  So my husband and I started calling each other mommy or daddy and in a few weeks my kids picked up and stopped using our first names.  Problem solved!

Absolutely not. There is no way I would do that, and I certainly would not let my daughter do that. We are not peers, we are not "equals."

I have never called my parents by their first name, I have never called any family members by their first name... except siblings and cousins but thats different obviously.  I cant imagine calling my parents by their first names

No, I would never even think of doing that, as I think it's disrespectful however I know people that do and their parents seem to be okay with it, so I guess it works for them, but it would not for me.

I agree with you. I would never call my parents by their name. I also think it is disrespectful. I was raised like you always respect my parents and my son will respect me too. He has to or else, hmmm he just has to.

I don't think it's right to call your parents by their name.

  lol....No I do not call either one of my parents by their first names, I am 33 years old and I still call them Mom and Dad

Oh no... i am calling them Mom and dad...
Whenever there is their grandson/daughter, I will call my mom and dad as grandma/grandpa

I have always called my dad by his first name. I don't really know why but that is just how it is, I guess.
