back to school already??!!??

When does school start in your area?? My kids only have a little over two weeks left of their summer vacation! I am not one that is in a hurry to send them back either! I work from home and enjoy having my kids with me and plus it is so much more expensive during the school year with all the crap they need for school.

I live in a rural area in middle Georgia. School starts here Friday August 14. My 4 kids are going into 8th, 6th, 5th, and 1st grades.

The kids here go back on the 17th. Have you considered homeschooling, since you work at home and enjoy your kids? It works for us, you can do it pretty cheap. Can I ask what kind of work you do from home?

I have thought about homeschooling. I actually was homeschooled myself from 8th grade and have done pretty well and I think it is great but I am afraid that I would not be able to get my work done and teach 4 kids at the same time. I am a single parent. 

I work from home full time as a medical transcriptionist for the radiology department of a hospital. I went to technical school to get a degree to do that and it has been wonderful!!

That's great, I can certainly agree that teaching 4 kids would be too much in addition to working. I only have one child, so even being a single parent, it isn't hard for us.
I have been thinking about Transcription but I am not sure about it. My cousin went to school for that and hated it once she got started. She said she always had to track down doctors and nurses to decipher their handwriting. Do you have that problem? I would also be scared that the new computerized system for health records might make it obsolete.
I envy you, though, getting to work at home!

I don't start college till September 1st or 2nd...not exactly sure.

When I was growing up in Virginia, we never went back to school until the day after Labor Day.  We used to go on vacation with friends from North Carolina, but it always had to be planned early enough that they could get back for school in early August.

im from the detroit area in michigan and my kids go back after labor day,, and i enjoy summer break with the kids get to sleep in and stay up late,,i have a 7th,10th and a senior this year..

i live in florida and our kids go back the 24th of Aug.  i work in a high school cafeteria so i want school to start back ,like now.  i will have a pre-k, 1st grade and a 9th grader this year.
