HS stadium

Just have to vent...

Our local high school is getting a new 15 million dollar stadium. Meanwhile, our graduates can barely read! Teachers have to buy their own copy paper or put it on the parents school supply lists.  15 million dollars!!  Seriously messed up priorities.

Who's paying for the stadium? If outside sources donated the money then they get to choose how it's spent

Both private and tax payer $, though trying to find out the details on that is proving difficult. The board of education releases conflicting estimates that don't add up.

Spending 15 million dollars for a high school stadium is ridiculous.  It doesn't matter who's paying for it.  It's still a big waste of money.

It sounds like it is a waste of money although there are probably some high schools that actually make money off of football games (usually those that you see on ESPN from time to time). If your school is one of those then maybe it will pay back in the long run.

A classic case of how priorities do get all messed up and turned around like you said.  This kind of thing goes on all over and yes, it is a waste.  What does this teach kids?  For one thing, it teaches that there are other aspects of school that are much more important than getting a good, basic education.

I think I will vent with you.  :confused1:

It's crazy to spend that much on a high school stadium. Just hope that it doesn't end up like that $60 million stadium in Texas that only lasted two years before it started to crack
