Do you bake bread at home? How long does it take to bake bread?

Unfortunately the only bread I bake is rolls or biscuits. But I do love the smell of bread baking in a bakery or grocery store.

i love baking --but my oven is a fast baker so i usually just keep checking and use the toothpick method--sorry not much help but when it gets golden you know its about done

i dont bake bread at home..but there is nothing like the smell of warm bread coming out of the oven

No I do not bake bread at home. I don't know how too make it. I do like fresh baked bread right out of the oven. I like it when it is warm.

I just bake, ready mix cake and muffins sometimes biscuits.

These days I use a bread machine so I can wake up to fresh baked bread without heating up the kitchen during the day.

However, before I got the bread machine I did bake bread from scratch with the oven.  There are lots of good recipes, but the basic steps are pretty much the same.  Mix the wet ingredients and dissolvable ingredients then let cool to room temperature.  Dissolve the yeast in warm water, then add to the cooled liquids.  Mix in the flour, tun out onto a floured surface and let rest for 10 minutes.  Kneed until smooth and elastic then let rise in a greased bowl, with a towel over it, until double in bulk (about 2 hours).  Punch down, divide if making more than one loaf and form into loaves.  If making conventional shaped loaves you'll put them into greased loaf pans.  Let rise again, covered, until double in bulk, then bake for about 45 minutes.  The whole process can take about six hours, without interruptions.

I found it took all day, which is another reason I love my bread machine.  The machine takes about 3 hours to make the bread and only about 15 minutes to prep.

There's nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread.  Enjoy.

I always buy bread at home so never bake them at all.  But my sister did it sometime and it pretty tasty.

I have never baked bread but I intend to do so after my next shopping trip.  I don't know if its less expensive but I know homemade bread is delicious so I want to see if I can bake some good bread.
