I live near NY so I love to go to the Renaissance Faire. Does anyone else like to visit this or other fairs and things near them?

We missed the five week opportunity to attend the Rennaisance faire here in Colorado. We went to the fair the last two years and had a ball!  I love the guy who hurls insults at people as they throw tomatoes at his face. He is completely rude and hilarious. The washer maids are delightful, food wonderful and I always enjoy a good, large beer or two.  The atmosphere is so magical and they truly hire the best people for the job. The only draw back is that it is usually conducted during the hottest part of July and the traffic/parking is absolutely nuts. My daughter had her hair done at last years faire and it turned out beautiful...and wasn't too outlandish from a price perspective.

I used to visit the one in NY when we lived there. Now that I'm living in MN, I go to the Ren. Festival near the Twin Cities. I actually think that the MN one is just a little bit larger than the one in NY. I also went to one that was outside of Toranto when I was going to grad. school in Buffalo, NY, but I was disappointed with that one as it seemed much smaller than any other; you'd probably get a better show at Toranto's Medieval Times. The one nice thing about the one in MN is that it starts in the end of August and goes through September, so it usually isn't too hot to walk around esp. if you're the type that likes to get into costume too.

I have never been to one.  I don't know of any that are in my area, but it sounds like something I would like to see.

There is a annual Bristol Renaissance Faire in the Village of Bristol, Wisconsin that is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from June to September. It is a delightful walk into the 1500's with a perfect-size Renaissance-themed village setting and costumed characters to match the era. I've been there many times and have never grown tired of it.

When I lived in NY, I would go to the Renaissance Faire, too!  I've also been to the Renaissance Faire here in Arizona and it was a blast!  Love the jousts, love all the people dressed up, and love all the vendors!  It's a blast to walk around eating your turkey leg and interacting with all the players.  So much fun!
