It feels great to achieve a goal. I was able to quit smoking and I feel really great about that. no more coughing constantly and maybe my bones wont lose so much calcium.

It's a wonderful feeling when you set a goal for yourself!

I'm a very goal-oriented person and I try to set up a goal for myself for just about everything.
My current BIG goal is weight-loss, so I set up a mini goal for myself for every day.
For example... "Stay under on my calories for today" or "Walk an extra 500 steps than yesterday" or "Lift 5lbs more than last week". Anything simple to keep myself motivated and help me see that change in my body.

I don't usually set goals for myself. But when I do, and achieve them, it feels wonderful. I know I really should set more goals, especially for my craft projects and computer projects. It helps a lot with motivation. :)

I do my household chores as goals...the only way I seem to be able to get anything done is to set one or two tasks a day to accomplish.  Today is was cut the grass and do a load of wash...I've still got to do the wash...but then I feel o.k. that I've done something that needed done...and the mound of chores won't become a mountain. I also feel afterwards that I deserve ice cream or a chocolate bar or both.

setting goals and achieving them are great no matter how small they are. You can cross them off your list or sometimes other notice this too which can be great for your self esteem too.

I rarely set goals. I find life changes too quickly to remain on course. Maybe it's just the ADD ?

There are not many things that feel as good as setting a goal and being able to achieve it. It is such an empowering experience.

Achieving a goal makes it much more easier to achieve other goals in the future. Once you prove to yourself that you can accomplish something, it puts in your mind the fearlessness and that go get it attitude that propels you to achieve other goals.

With that said, it's important to make goals no matter how small and strive to achieve them.

It will put your life on a very different and rewarding path.

Congratulations!  I have never smoked but have seen a lot of people who do and want very much to quit.  I know it has to be difficult and you can take great pride in your accomplishment.
