Taking vacation
« on: July 18, 2014, 04:35:52 am »
Do you like to use your earned vacation time at work or do you like to bank tbe hours and let
them roll over until the next year?

I use my time whether I am going anywhere or not. I enjoy getting a break from work. Although, someone times
I would not mine saving my time, but that never seems to happen, lol.

I used mine getting a break from work, last week we went to a very nice camp ground in Maryland. We enjoyed so much and gain our energy back to work again.

I have let my vacation accumulate over the past three years as well as my comp time.  I'm taking a nice vacation to Hawaii in Sept. so I will be using quite a few of my vacation days.  I always like to have a few tucked back in the event of an emergency and I would have to be off work.
Have a wonderful day!

I like to save mine until I absolutely have to use them which has been a pretty sound maneuver in the past...except for my last job. I had planned to take the last two weeks of 2013 off. I was at a reasonable rate of pay and was promised the time off. A month before, in November, the company switched us over to a different project that paid considerably less and put that rate on my vacation time so I ended up losing about a thousand dollars.  I made up for it by working overtime at a second job but I still felt that it was somewhat immoral/unethical for the first company to renig on the pay promised for my time off.  I work with a lot of attorneys who said that I could fight it but Kharma dealt an ugly blow to the company that did this and I found a new job during the vacation that paid an even better wage.
